Behind the Scenes

Within just a few days of working at Haven Style House, I have already learned how much work goes into maintaining and expanding a store that a common customer would never think of. Now that Haven Style House has been open for about a year, they are looking to expand instead of just maintaining their store. This requires a lot of customer outreach and events. Both on Thursday and Friday, the store received many shipments of new clothes to sell in the store. It was exciting to see the new merchandise but I was surprised by all the hard work that would come after receiving the clothes. All of the clothes had to be steamed, tags needed to be put on, and then the store needed to be reorganized in order to fit all of the new clothes. Display is crucial in a store and putting different pieces next to each other can either make or break the product for the customer because if the colors are clashing, the customer will not want to look over there. In addition, they try to display pieces that will go nicely with each other to offer a complete outfit for the customer who may struggle putting different pieces together. In addition to helping organize the store, I put up a blog post on their website to introduce myself and to model some great pieces from the store. I then blasted the post on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to attract different audiences. Lastly, I helped draw a poster to help promote a special even they are doing for Blossom Time in Chagrin Falls since that is where the store is located.
